Catholic Social Teaching Ministry

We seek to help parishioners see the challenges of modern society – poverty, homelessness, immigration, racism, globalization – through the lens of our Catholic faith.

Our Mission: To be the primary parish resource and catalyst for social justice through Prayer, Education and Action.

Our Guiding Principles:

  • Based on Catholic Social Teaching
  • Issue Identification, Education, Meaningful Exchange
  • Pursuit of Dignity + Rights for Disadvantaged People
  • Partner with Organizations, Coalitions and other Ministries

We continue to grow and invite you to learn more about our ministry. We have some exciting plans for this year, including thought provoking speakers, Social Justice related movies, Fair Trade Markets and much more.

Monthly Meeting: Join us on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in Room 210 in the Ministry Building. For more information or to join our mailing list, email spnsocialjustice@gmail.com.

Earth Day is a moment in time to bring to life a glimmer of God’s original outpouring of joy that brought the cosmos into existence and the delight God took in what was created ~ “God saw everything that He had made, and indeed, it was very good” (Gen 1:31). This Earth Day talk, with Dr. Wright, will take great delight in good food and explore the centrality of food in Christian life – from dirt to dessert. We will let Paul’s command to the community at Corinth be our guide: “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.”  Please click here to join the talk.
